Earlier this year, I promised to launch a new podcast and newsletter, which would be focused on my favorite topic: how people can make money in the fickle world of wine, spirits, and other drinks.
And now, the podcast is finally here — one episode of Drinks Insider is already out, and three more episodes launch tomorrow.
What are they about?
The episodes cover a range of topics:
an entrepreneur who broke into a niche dominated by a multinational giant;
a finance expert who explains why she’s investing in wine DTC at a time when so many are gloomy about wine’s prospects; and
a communications professional who explains how brands should approach the U.S. market.
You can already listen to the first episode — an interview with Kaleigh Theriault of NielsenIQ, which looks at the state of the U.S. beverage market. If you want a summary of what she said, I wrote about it here.
The reason I kept quiet about that episode is that I needed all my friends to listen to it and comment first. I added this fancy intro — it was underscored with music and everything — but the feedback was brutal! It’s been re-edited and re-uploaded, with the fancy intro gone, and I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out.
Extra newsletters this week
Speaking of takeaways, I’ll write up every episode, in a pithy, at-a-glance format. That means three more newsletters this week.
Normally, there will be one newsletter a week. New episodes will drop each Wednesday.
An update on subscriptions and an offer
I want to personally thank everybody who wrote to me asking where the newsletters and podcasts were — especially the people who kept asking! I was taken aback by how many people valued the newsletters I wrote back in January and February.
And a massive thank you to the people who insisted they wanted to keep the paid subscription —and the people who paid to subscribe when there was nothing tangible to subscribe to! — and who were happy to wait until the newsletter re-launched. You will all get a year’s subscription for free.
Speaking of which… the podcasting platform I use has the option of doing member-only podcasts, which I am more than happy to do if anybody wants to suggest a topic. I’ll get the other subscribers to vote on it, and if everybody wants it, I’ll make it happen.
Also, I need your opinion!
I’d also love to know what sort of topics you want covered. I know most readers come from the wine industry, but we also have a few spirits people, a few from other beverages, and a whole bunch of finance/investment people.
I’ve added a poll below, but if you have a topic you’re dying to know about or a burning business question, drop me a line at felicity@drinksinsider.com and I’ll go looking for the right people to interview.
Thanks, once again, for being part of this newsletter — and I look forward to exploring the topics that will help everybody make more money!
